CONFERENCE MANAGEMENT 4.0: MAN OR MACHINE?

The rapid rise of digitalization in the economy and society is bringing major transformation and leaving a lasting impact on the event and conference industry. Opinion on the dynamics of this development and its resulting interactions is not unanimous, but it is understood that digital change will bring far-reaching and fundamental transformation to structures and systems.

What impact will digital change have on the conference business of tomorrow? Inquiries for conference venues, seminar and convention hotels used to be made by phone or fax. A 48-hour response timeframe was considered commonplace.

But what does it look like today? MICE booking platforms, instant booking, chat and auto-response are the new normal. If a hotel fails to respond to an inquiry within 16 hours, that ship has sailed. Their competitor got there first.

Conference Management 4.0 – Man or Machine: what is the right answer for now? Because there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer.

  • What will the conference managers and meeting planners of the future look like and how will they control the new booking processes?
  • What do they need to pay attention to? What can they do?
  • Are Germany, Switzerland and Austria already lagging behind in a global comparison?

Conference management is changing. The work volume is not increasing, but it is becoming increasingly digitalized. And we all know that without technological progress, mobile working would not be possible today. We like to play with trends – the future and "back to the future", with online shopping at Zalando alternating with a visit to a traditional flea market. Anything goes. How do you approach change? Do you seek out the positive trends?

EXPERT TIP: Don’t follow trends. Set them!
